Mitochondria is a double walled, DNA containing, semi autonomous, oxidative ,energy transducing organelle.
It is found only in Eukaryotic aerobic cells (except mature RBCs totally absent in prokaryotes & anerobic eukaryotic cells.)
Mitochondria is semiautonomous becouse:
It contain their own DNA.
Having cytochromes ETS for ATP synthesis.
Mitochondria is arise from pre existing ones from division i.e. not de novo.
Having DNA forming protien used in making their own membranes. But enzymes in mitochondria are coded by nuclear DNA (therefore mitochondria is not fully autonomus it is semiautonomus.)
