An electromagnet is basically a magnet that functions on electricity. The strength of this magnet depends on the amount of electric current passing through it.
An electromagnet uses ELECTRIC CURRENT to operate. It uses both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current). AC continually changes, therefore DC is stronger than AC until AC is at its peak voltage. When at peak voltage, AC will be stronger.
