T cells have specific purposes. T cells recognize specific foreign invaders and are responsible for directly killing them. White blood cells are part of the body's immune system. They help the body fight infection and other diseases. In other words, T cells have an imprint on the disease and can "remember" the disease when WBC might "forget" the disease. Example: Let's say you get the flu, your WBC will create antibodies to fight the disease. If you don't get the flu again for x number years those antibodies will be gone. That's where T cells come in. Even though the antibodies are gone the T cells still "remember the disease and can make antibodies as soon as the cells recognize the flu bacteria.
