no carbon compounds are not a ion.
because it is a property of ion that ion compounds gives out a iron ,positive or negative
ionic compounds are generally a solid because of attraction forces of negative and positive charges .but carbon compounds are generally brittle and candy break into pieces when pressure is applied .
carbon compounds do not conduct the heat and electricity but the ionic compounds conduct the heat and electricity and it is a good conductor of heat and electricity .
