• Carbon dioxide. The process by which a small outgrowth on a simple organism gives birth to a new organism of the same species. While budding of yeast they do not need oxygen to produce energy.
This stage is called anaerobic (without oxygen). During such anaerobic stages yeast convert carbohydrates into alcohol and carbon dioxide gas. This process is known as fermentation.
They by-products of fermentation that are alcohol and carbon dioxide can be used to produce alcoholic beverages and breads respectively.
