take a sheet place it on 4 wooden blocks fitted at each corner
place a heavy object on the centre of sheet
now through some marbles...you will find that marble automatically start revolving in elliptical shape till they have motion.
because when marble are running toward the centre they get extra acceleratiom due to the pull force of centered mass and that's why covers a more distance.
that's why they move in this shape..
hope you understand..... because i want to keep it simple..... because if you are coming to talk about forces there are many...and i dont want to go in it.
