DNA copying is an essential part of the process of reproduction because DNA is the organism's genetic information carrier. DNA replication is where a cell replicates copies of its DNA. These DNA copies are then transferred to the offspring making the transmission of characters from parent to offspring possible.

Because if DNA not copy than our young one which forms became of a new species. There is new face totally different from us.
We have 22pairs of chromosome but if DNA not copy than 22pairs from male and 22pairs from female goes to young ones which forms new species.
Hence DNA copying helps in continuation of same species to very very long years.
