Paddy plants require a lot of water for proper growth and development. During winters, large amount of water is not available. Hence due to unavailability of sufficient water and unfavorable climatic conditions paddy can be grown only in rainy season and not in winter season. Also, paddy are kharif crops sown in rainy season.
