Hi Everyone. Thanks for the interest in our offense and the lively discussion. The video on rivals is almost at 1.5 million plays. In terms of a playbook, its available through American Football Monthly. if you go to the a11offense.com web site and click the bottom right logo, it will give you a preview and take you there.
A-11 Offense Playbook
I could see this offense working very well in High School, heck, watching the highlight reel I felt like I was watching a 6 man game, where every player is eligible, every play. I think it would work well in College where you have a Slash player like Randell Ell. I had the thought to use a 2 QB system at Nebraska back a few years when Eric Crouch and Bobby Newcombe were a coin flip as the starter. The only time you will see an NFL team use a formation like that is when a team is down by more than 3 points, with one play to run, out of Hail Mary range. Sorry.
I saw it too, there was a link too the high school as well as a webpage they made about the offense.
As a high school football coach that offense is out there, but if you can get the kids to buy in to it the possiblities are endless.
As for the people that think it looks stupid and unoraginzed, thats because you don't understand it. That is exactly what makes an offense great, when you (the offnesive coach) know everything about it and the team your playing thinks it looks stupid and unorganized.
Its innovative and strategic. They need an edge since they are facing schools that are twice their size giving their competition a larger talent pool to form a team. Those coaches came up with something that no one else thought of, they investigated the rules and found out that there was nothing illegal about their formation. Give them credit for trying to do something different.
Just because it challenges our concept as to what football is supposed to look like does not make it stupid.
Though seems in inconventional, the plays seem more out of a dramatic kids movie. It is exciting to watch but I am one who feels this will probably not make it to the college/NFL level. But I seriously encourage those who are interested in these plays to view them first before passing judgement.
It has too many disadvantages for the defense and is very difficult for the officials to properly rule on. The entire thing hinges on an easily closed loophole in the rulebook.
Look for it to be made illegal in the next couple of years.
Who Blocks the linemen on those plays?
so is there like a video on youtube or something where i can see this? or is it like that play in the longest yard where everyone lines up as WR?
yea i saw that on yahoo and was wondering the same thing....it looks interesting and effective
