Not typically.
This is a pretty dangerous condition. Rechargeables can explode under some adverse conditions.
Dispose of that bad boy right away ... but do it responsibly. Lithium Ions should be taken to a place that accepts used ones: Battery Warehouse, Best Buy, or your local electronic recycling center.
they shouldn't...if it is swelling contact the manufacturer, may be a risk of explosion or other problems. Regardless stop using the battery and put it somewhere away from people that you don't mind being dirty. Is possible that the battery may leak or explode.
Usually not. If it is swelling, it could be at the risk of exploding.
