just like the question above says. I saw a video online and was really wondering if it is true or not. It states that the acetone actually helps with the vaporization of the gasoline. so my question is if it actually helps with gas mileage.

Acetone In Fuel Said to Increase Mileage
Readily-available chemical added to gas tank in small proportion improves the fuel's ability to vaporize completely by reducing the surface tension that inhibits vaporization of some fuel droplets.

I pulled this out of Wikipedia:
Some automotive enthusiasts add acetone at around 1 part in 500 to their fuel, following claims of dramatic improvement in fuel economy and engine life. This practice is controversial as the body of systematic testing shows that acetone has no measurable effect or may in fact reduce engine life by adversely affecting fuel system parts. Debates on this subject and the perennial claims of a "Big Oil" cover-up intensified when the practice was addressed on the popular American TV show MythBusters in 2006, and shown to have negative effect in the televised fuel economy test.
I remember another show where they tried this...and the results seemed to show that on a much older vehicle, something with a carburetor and not fuel-injection, it did seem to help.
But most new cars are computer controlled fuel/air mix and I doubt that it would help.
Also...acetone is known to break down rubber. So, by putting this in your tank you risk damaging the fuel lines from the tank to the engine.
well since acitone has a very very high flash point - actually higher than gasoline - yes it will burn faster and much cleaner, however it also vaporizes very fast, meaning it will not last very long in any container that is not sealed shut!
I used to work with acetone daily, and I used it to clean my hands I would dip my hands in wash off gelcoating and I didnt have to dry my hands the stuff vaporises in mere second or 2
Acetone is a strong solvent and a catalyst. It greately changes thechemical composition of any other chemical it comes in contact with.In fact the chemical could alter your gas composition and neutralize it or denature it so bad it could cause your gas to gel.
acetone seems kind of harsh to em. i would expect that to give you a short burst in fuel economy then it will cause the car to start to run funny because of the material that has been stripped from the lines and the rest of the system.
no iot will hurt your milage myth busters did this one
