this is the ring i would like to purchase
however it will be something i would like to wear everyday, will the gold overlay fade and will the sterling silver begin to fade? if so, how long before that happens, a few months? a year? also sometimes sterling silver turns my finger green, i guess im acidic or whatever, will this do that to me too?
thank you

The process of gold plating on silver is called "vermeil" (pronounced ver-may) I have seen vermeil jewelry last years for some people and for a couple of months for others. It all depends on how often the jewelry is worn and the care taken for the jewelry.
Obviously the less often the jewelry is worn, the longer the gold plating will last. Wearing your vermeil jewelry everyday will cause the plating to wear off much more quickly, for many people within 6 months. You can figure on re-plating once a year if you wear your vermeil rings all day everyday, and at $50 and up to re-plate it would be more cost effective to just purchase a solid 14K ring.
Other ways to make vermeil jewelry last longer is to keep it clean. Using a commercial jewelry cleaner, or a solution of 1 part simple green, 1 part sudsy ammonia and 1 part water makes an effective jewelry cleaner. Let the jewelry soak for several minutes, then using a soft old tooth brush gently scrub the jewelry (do NOT use toothpaste!), rinse with water, then let the jewelry AIR DRY. DO NOT use a paper towel to dry the jewelry as paper is abrasive to the gold plating. Also, do NOT use a polishing cloth on vermeil as it also will cause the plating to wear off more quickly.
If there is wear and the underlaying silver starts to tarnish, you can use a silver dip such as Tarn-X to remove the tarnish. Leave the jewelry in the Tarn-X for just a few seconds, as longer exposure to the cleaner will darken the silver.

sure, the gold overlay is something similar to gold coating or gold plating and this thin surface will fade after a period of wearing depends on you. If it keep it good condition, no water, dirty things, no scratch, the gold will last for several years. If the gold faded, you can ask help from local jeweler, to make it appear the color of silver, or just have it gold plated again

the ring is plated in 14K gold so if you take care of it....it should not tarnish. you might find that your reaction to sterling silver will not happen as the ring is covered in the plating.
nice ring & a fairly good price. i quite like crystals as they don't lose their shine.
not as long as poor people cannot afford solid karats dont get it wet and do not clean with jewelry cleaner
it is a nice one!
normally, it will last long time if it is not scratched.
it will turn green if it meets oxygen. it does not hurt your finger.
