The best way is just plain old clear nail polish.. The old fashion way. It also makes a big difference if you have the over the boot tights that have the buckles or the ones with the velcro. The ones with the buckles don't "catch" as badly and will help keep your runs down.
The Mondor Evolution and Mondor Bamboo tights have the buckles. You should try the Bamboo next time you buy some...I hear they wear better. You should also go to kinziescloset.com and buy them. They are less expensive than the other stores.
First of all, make sure you're always very careful with your tights, never accidently kicking your boots with your blade, etc. Use the old clear nail polish method to stop runs when they do happen. Also, what I do is a have a pair of "practice" tights that I wear on an everyday basis and they have some runs in them, and then I have a pair of "performance" tights that I only wear for tests, competitions, and shows so that they don't get runs and I don't have to buy a new pair every time I have a test, comp, etc.
what i always do is if they are new i will turn them inside out and have my mom stitch the 2 sides up, then at the end i put a dot of clear nailpolish on the inside still, so they dont keep ripping but with little holes and such i normally just leave them, and as for preventing them? well honestly ur skates are gonna hit your tights there is no way i have found to stop that lol other than try to not hit your feet :)
Get some beige boot covers to wear over your over-the-boot tights. Or wear footed or footless tights with the boot covers so you get the same look without the money.
What my mom does is when I get a run in them, she turns them inside out and stitches the two sides together. & if its practice over the boot tights them keep the holes in them, it looks like you work hard!!
Or wear under armor pants to practice, thats what I do.
dont wear over the boot tights to practice i wear the ones that only go over the top half of my boots but put clear nail polish on it or put hairspray on it
When it starts to run, don't cut any loose strings, and put on a little bit of clear nail polish around the edges of the run. =)
