He is 22 months old and the bruise (I think it is a bruise) has been there for almost a week, either 5 or 6 days. Is this something I need to call a doctor about? Could it actually be ear cancer since it hasn't gone away yet or a tumor. I am just worried about his health. It doesn't seem to bother him.
It is on the top part of the ear lobe and the middle of the ear lobe. The edges are red but turns purplish black. I didn't feel any lumps. Just worried that I might have under reacted and now might be over reacting.
Update:It had changed from black to dark purple with red edges.

It sounds like he may have bumped his ear and its just a bruise especially since it is beginning to turn color I would watch it for another day or two. And if you don't see any changes take him in to see the doctor. But It doesn't sound like you have anything to worry about.

How long does a bruised ear last on a toddler?

Bruised Earlobe
My son is infamous for getting ear bruises. He's 14 months and somehow manages to get them there more than anywhere else. I have found though that bruises on the ear seem to take longer to fade than in other places. I wouldn't be worried, give it more time... :-)
I wouldn't think it is cancer or anything. Give it maybe a week or two and look for it to turn yellowish/green when it's in it's last stages of healing. If it stays black/red for the next week I would get it looked at, but still wouldn't think of cancer. Usually bruises go through a couple stages of color changes.
You will know if it's a bruise if it has changed colour during the 5-6 days (from dark purple-ish to light purple-ish then yellowish) or has faded, If it hasn't changed in all that time i recommend taking him to a doctor just to check.
As long as it starts turning color soon - like from purple to green and yellow - then he will be fine. If it doesn't start to fade, yes you should have it checked out.
