Yes, my mother's spoiled him. She always mixes something into his food, he'll fully accustomed to it. He won't eat if the food isn't made to be more interesting. (I've told her many a time that if he's honestly hungry, he'll just eat the darn food, but she's convinced it'd be just awful to "deprive" him of a meal or a few.) I do insist that the food she adds be on the healthy side, though. He typically gets a bit of grated cheese, veggies, leftover meat or plain yogurt. (He's a Mastiff, if it makes any difference.)
No, for the simple reason that my dogs are not allowed to be picky. They either eat the food I give them or they go hungry...those are the only two choices in my house. And while I do enjoy spoiling them from time to time with canned or home-made food if they decide that they won't eat unless I put something extra good in their bowl they go straight back to nothing but plain old dry dog food for at least a few weeks.
My dogs do both go through periods of time where they don't finish their breakfast, usually when the weather starts to change and become hot, but that's a different matter all together.
Nope - my dog eats what she is given, end of story. She only gets a little bit of "human" food because most of it (or too much of it) is bad for her.
Dogs don't generally do picky either, btw - humans make them so by swapping foods or adding junk to kibble when the dog turns a nose up at a bowl. A healthy dog won't starve itself if food is available - unless they know you'll give in and give them junk.
PS - Kibbles and Bits are junk food. Fillers, corn, dyes, by-products... none of it is good for your dog. It's the doggy equivalent of human McDonalds.
my old childhood dog did that. I remember when i was like 8 or 9 My dog BoBo ate Kibbles and bits and he would take a mouthful and then spit out the green peas.
I've got a 7 year old Yorkshire Terrier :)
He doesn't like many dog foods (N)
But he doesn't even like many human foods either (N) (N)
We took him to the vets and they said he had to eat this certain hard food that he didn't like, we just left it on his plate and now he really likes it :)
My dog is very picky...but it is due to abuse and neglect by her old owners. She has only six teeth left so she really cant eat dry food. I give her a lot of soft vegetables and she REALLY loves chicken pot pie!
Not really, but I dont let him try all the good stuff (like human cooked food), so he probably doesnt know any better!
He is only allowed veggies from the human fridge...:)
MY DOG IS SUPERRRRR PICKY. SHE ONLY EATS PEDIGREE...CERTAIN FLAVORS .SHE WONT EAT IT..NO MATTER HOW HUNGRY SHE IS. SHE WILL NEVER EAT CHICKEN OF ANYKIND...ONLY PEOPLE FOOD CHICKEN. SHES WEIRD LOL
BUT I WOULDNT HAVE IT ANY OTHER WAY. LOL TRY MIXIN SOME CHICKEN BROTH IN HER BOWL...
Nope,I don't allow such nonsense.
My dogs take what they're given & inhale every crumb.
