Well, as you probably already know, there are 6 sections; Verbal Reasoning, Comprehension, Maths, Numerical Reasoning, the analytical essay & the creative writing part. Personally, I found the verbal reasoning the easiest and I finished it when we were only halfway through the clock. But each to their own.
I strongly suggest you to go to a tutor if you don't already, which offers a special course for the selective schools, I did, and I found both the tutors I went to extremely helpful, as they both had practice tests every week which was alike the Macrob Test. :) If you don't go to one, FIND ONE IMMEDIATELY! I went to 2 tutors which had this program. I recommend ICP/ St Vincent's. (http://www.vieonline.com.au)/
Anyway, each of them are 50 or 60 questions and you must do them in 30 minutes (the writing you must do in 15 minutes.) So you have to practice being a fast yet accurate thinker.
Well, for the verbal reasoning I suggest you study up on your words. If you don't know any, look them up! Keep an exercise book which will be like your own personal dictionary, if you want...For the comprehension, you have to read big chunks of information, absorb it, and answer questions relating to the topic. It was really challenging for me, even though I consider myself a fast reader; but nevertheless I got a superior for that. :) You should read the questions first and then scan through the passage to find answers.
For numerical reasoning, it's mostly patterns and other things like that. And as for maths, you have to learn basic Year 9 and 10 things, like parabolas and soh-cah-toa, etc. So learn those things.
And for the analytical essay, I advise you to read the newspaper a lot. You should also study up on your persuasive techniques and essay-writing skills.
For the creative essay, don't think about it too much, and write a SIMPLE story and don't delve into complicated paradoxes or anything. Flaunt big words. Although my piece was seriously the worst, most pointless story I have ever written AND was half-finished, I still managed to do okay because of that.
Make sure you take a break during your studying; relax on the day before. And if you can't decide on an answer in the multiple-choice tests, then just guess. DO NOT LEAVE ANY ANSWERS OUT!
