i just had a traffic ticket of a " no parking anytime sign" on sunday, but, i just don't understand sthg, if i stop (not park) the car to pick up somebody, even i'm inside. why they give me ticket knowing that first: i'm not STANDING there nor leaving the car parked without no one inside!! i was just right in, and this cop told me no parking, i mean what the heck is the difference????SO. who's right me or the police????

The police. Usually those signs are present to stop people from blocking the flow of traffic, which by "stopping" or "parking"(or whatever other name you want to come up with for it) you probably did, that's why you got a ticket.
this is the NY state law
A NO PARKING sign means you may stop only temporarily to load or unload merchandise or passengers.
A NO STANDING sign means you may stop only temporarily to load or unload passengers.
A NO STOPPING sign means you may stop only in order to obey a traffic sign, signal or officer, or to avoid conflicts with other vehicles.
so if you were not physically loading something into the car or if some one was not physically getting into the car you were parking. being stoped even if you are in the car other than to load something or let someone get in the car is parking
