As an 8th ancient history teacher in Europe I studied Ancient Rome ( now Italy) that the Romans made pizza round to spread the dough quicker and faster to feed the roman emperors large family with 19 wife's and 48 children and 79 grand children, therefore making pizza round.
Now to the box, the pizza box came in the 1950s and boxes where easier to make square not round, therefore the pizza is round and the box is square. Although we do have the technology to make circle boxes faster, but the pizza companies like to keep things cheap and fast.
Not all pizza comes in square boxes, but the ones that do its just like that :-))
pizza came first. Ever tried making a square ball of dough?
pizza was invented hundreds of years before boxes
ever tried making a round box?
and how would you pick slices out if it fitted?
Hello :~)
I haven't got the slightest clue but I would say so it doesn't get squished and it keeps it from rising with heat?
Have a lovely day :~)
